Since establishment in 1976, Electrum, Inc. continues to be managed by the original founders Jack Douglas and John Silva.

The founders possess over 70 years of combined experience in solder and precious metal recycling, environmental compliance, and generator service requirements.

Initially, Electrum operated as a broker recycling solder and precious metals generated by electronic and electrical manufacturers.

After several years of successful operation as a recycling broker, the principals designed, constructed and installed a "state of the art" pollution abatement control system to recycle solder dross. With the evolvement of EPA regulations and generator superfund risk it was imperative Electrum be in the forefront of environmentally safe solder dross recycling. Also, during this period of time the Electrum principals installed a chemical process to recycle the precious metal material shipped for recycling.

As we move forward, Electrum is acutely focused on the solder and precious metal recycling marketplace. The traditional solder alloys are being replaced with lead frees and precious metal usage will change with new and more diverse applications- As these market changes' occur, Electrum's extensive technical knowledge and experience will be vital to service new recycling requirements.
